Rob McNicholas

I originally moved to Saffron Walden to start my PGA training under Philip Davis in 2001 having played my golf at Normanby Hall Golf Club in Scunthorpe. I finished in 2004 and once qualified headed out to Aucjkland, New Zealand to work at Takapuna Golf Club on the North Shore. Here I was fortunate enough to work at a large multi-national golf club and learn from national coaches from both New Zealand and Korea. These years were an eye opener into coaching techniques and development methods which heavily influenced my path to the teaching side of the profession. 

After two years there I came back and worked in the Midlands at Beedles Lake Golf course where I continued to develop my coaching and competed in as many tournaments as my diary would allow. In 2010 I took the opportunity to come back to Saffron Walden in a lead teaching role and three years later I became Head Professional after Philips departure. I have looked to build a team of coaches to work with the club and grow the game in the local community. We are here to coach anyone from any background, age and ability. Our explanations and demonstrations are straight forward, and we aim to make learning the game fun and enjoyable.

Sarah Smith

Sarah has been working at the Saffron Walden Golf Club since 2016, as well as playing on the WPGA Tour, her real strength is being able to adapt her coaching to your individual needs. Sarah will pin point the areas that once improved, will most benefit your game and help you succeed to reaching your goals!

At the start of 2022 Sarah became our Head Teaching Professional and also has a new role of coaching the Cambridgeshire County Girls.

Individual lessons are fairly flexible to a date & time that suits you. Whether it's just a one off 30 minutes or a package of 'hours' you would like to purchase, both can be done through a voucher or payment. Lesson prices start from £28 for half hour & £80 for a 9 hole playing lesson - there is also lesson packages available.

Once you are one of Sarah's clients, you will receive update videos on your swing changes, swing thoughts to take away, post lesson notes via email/text and 'check in' messages too to hear about any worries, progress or questions.
