The Lady Captain for 2019, Delia Roberts, warmly welcomes ladies to Saffron Walden Golf Club

The Ladies Section at Saffron Walden is large, thriving, and above all, friendly. Over 160 playing members of a wide range of golfing ability, regularly take part in competitions on Tuesdays or Saturdays, as well as enjoying social golf throughout the week.

We enter teams into the Cambs and Hunts County Jean Wilkinson and Grace Norman competitions, as well as taking part in the Ping, Mail on Sunday and other National competitions. We also have a regular programme of friendly matches with 16 other clubs open to all, as well as matches for our veterans.

Ladies interested in mixed golf will find a number of internal mixed competitions throughout the year, as well as friendly matches with other clubs.

The golf is complemented by an active social programme, including regular bridge days and lunches.

The Ladies section actively welcomes new members, both playing and social, and organises special days to help them integrate into the section.

We are very proud to boast a large and active Senior Section, with all male members over the age of 55 being welcome, and encouraged, to partake in our activities.

Throughout the season we hold a number of competitions, many with lunches afterwards, with matches against 12 other local clubs also taking place.  All seniors are encouraged to participate in our events, which often take place on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

We aim to make everyone feel at home within the Senior Section, and one of our Committee will be in contact to ensure you fit in seamlessly, and to answer any questions you may have.

I look forward to seeing you on the tee!

Seniors’ Captain 2019

With a section boasting nearly 90 Juniors, boys and girls under the age of 18 are encouraged to choose Saffron Walden Golf Club as their club.

We hold a number of competitions throughout the year, for those new to the game all the way up to those representing the Club as part of our Junior Squad.  A number of regional competitions are entered annually, including the Friendly League, St Ives Cup and Plate competition.

Outside of the competitions, a monthly Roll Up is held throughout the season to encourage members to come down and meet others within the section. Our active Junior Committee will ensure you meet people quickly, find plenty of occasions to play on the course and, most importantly, enjoy yourself.

Enjoy the course and facilities all year round and become a member of Saffron Walden Golf Club.

Saffron Walden is one of the most respected clubs in the region. It was, along with Gog Magog and Links Newmarket, one of the ‘originals’.
