Many scorecards have been ruined at the 17th hole! The tee shot appears simple, but only one beyond the large tree on the corner will mean the green is in range; and then you have a mid/long iron in uphill to a 2-tiered green. Out of bounds right and long, so slightly left is definitely best.

Pro's tip

A tee shot that moves from right to left will suit this hole. The second shot plays significantly uphill to a two tiered green. Aim your approach slightly left and be sure you hit enough club to get there.

Mature parkland, it’s superb. The par-5 3rd is a good hole up the hill and the 17th is strong too, but I like the par-5 that runs along the bottom to end the front nine. The perimeter of the course stretches down to the right-hand side and the tee shot is all important, calling for a draw into a sloping fairway. You must hit the fairway here to give yourself a chance of going for the green.
